Shattered Vows, by Deb Laaser. This is a great book for wives who are dealing with their husbands’ sexual betrayal (in whatever form). It’s written by someone who has been through the journey herself, and has helped many other women on it. The book is filled with practical wisdom, compassion, and hope. The L.I.F.E. Guide for Men, by Mark Laaser $19.95
This is the first of a series of workbooks for men, women, spouses, and couples. It is intended for support groups to use to find healing, fellowship, and accountability with each other. This is the primary resource used by many support groups around the country for men dealing with sexual addiction. It contains many exercises and activities that will help you in your recovery. The L.I.F.E. Guide for Spouses, by Melissa Haas $19.95
This workbook for wives of sex addicts is a great resource, written by Melissa Haas and edited by Mark Laaser. It is part of the LIFE series of workbooks for men, women, spouses, and couples struggling with sex addiction, and is the primary resource we encourage spouses to work through. It is intended for use in conjunction with support groups for healing and support, but can also be helpful for self-study purposes if groups are not available in your area. Web Resources
Faithful and True Ministries - This is the web site of author and therapist Dr. Mark Laaser. I serve as Director of Training in this ministry, which works with sex addicts. Dr. Laaser is one of the founders of sex addiction treatment in this country, and has written extensively on the subject.
Internet Behavior Consultants - This is the site of the joint organization of Elizabeth Griffin and David Delmonico, two of the leaders in the “cyber sex” treatment field. Cybersex - as they use the word - is a blanket term for sexual acting out with the computer, using pornography, chat rooms, video chat, etc.
Mothers Against Pornography - This is a great blog, one I’ve linked to a few times. They have a variety of posts with information about the effects of pornography. As their name suggests, they’re mostly concerned about pornography’s effects on children and teens.
L.I.F.E. Ministries - This organization publishes the LIFE guides, and sponsors LIFE groups around the country. Here is their mission: “We are a Christ-Centered Support Group ministry working through the local church to provide people with resources and relationships for healthy sexuality. Through breaking isolation, bringing freedom and building and equipping leaders, our goal is to have a L.I.F.E. group within 25 miles of anyone who needs one!”
Sex Addiction Recovery Zone - This is the blog with links to various articles by and information about Dr. Patrick Carnes. For those who don’t know, Dr. Carnes is considered the father of the sex addiction movement, and has been an active leader in the sex addiction recovery field since the early 80s.
Erik Bohlin - Eric is a counselor in the Lynnwood, Washington area, who specializes in working with addictions in general, and sex addiction in particular. His website has some good articles about both topics.
www.southpointbaptist.org/psalm51.htm is a Faithful and True support group for men in the Jacksonville, FL area that struggle with sexual sin in their lives. They have had meetings in that area for over 10 years.
