This is an article on the sexual-sanity.com site that was written to clarify Mark Brouwer's perspective on how some of the traditional language and solutions offered by Christians really fit into the process of recovery. It has turned out to be one of the more popular articles in the blog.
One of the little-talked about challenges for leaders is facing their own depression. One of the problems is that leaders feel the need to keep the "game face on" in their organizations ... but how can they deal with the real challenges of despression? This article from the lastingleaders.com site gives some good background info on this important topic.
Why we're here
Recovery from addictions and healing from hurts remain core issues for many of us, but the voices of recovery wisdom from the past aren't always heard or acted on. The mission of Recovery Remixed is to apply the insights of recovery to settings where this wisdom is not well understood or widely practiced. Specifically, we focus on two areas (further delineated below): (1) helping people understand and overcome compulsive sexual behavior, and (2) helping people in leadership roles maintain the emotional and spiritual health in the midst of often overwhelming demands.
People react strongly to the spiritual aspects of 12 step recovery programs. Some see them as "too Christian" while others dismiss them for not being "Christian enough." These principles need to be widely discussed, and applied with care to peoples' lives ... that's why we're here.
We offer teaching solutions for your church or community group. Maybe it's time to schedule an event and bring in an outside speaker to build momentum around this issue!
Need help getting control of sexual behavior? We offer individual and group coaching to help you move toward sexual sanity.
